Back on March 4, it was reported that the classic, mega-hit drama series 'Princess Hours' has been confirmed for a remake! Based on a popular manhwa series, the MBC drama 'Princess Hours' aired back in 2006 and told the story of South Korea still ruled by a monarchy. The story began when an ordinary high school girl was sent to the palace on an arranged marriage contract with the crown prince. The original series starred Yoon Eun Hye, Joo Ji Hoon, Song Ji Hyo, and Kim Jung Hoon, and boosted each of the youth actors at the time to stardom! With the announcement of the remake, netizens are revisiting Song Ji Hyo's exceptional beauty from fifteen years ago. Song Ji Hyo played the role of Min Hyo Rin and boasted of a beauty that impressed many viewers. She was able to play the role of the beautiful high school student who was the crowned prince's first-love. Netizens commented, "She's so gorgeous," "She's pretty now but she was so beautiful even then," "She was 25 when she played a high school student," "She looks so young but she looks the same even today," "I love her so much," and "I really loved her back then, she used to be my ideal type."
I react to remake or new adaptation news based on the circumstances of each, time between and whether I think the previous one really feels outdated and the source material rich enough to merit a fresh take so new generations can experience the enjoyment. That’s why I’m totally against the news that Goong Palace or Princess Hours is getting a new K-drama adaptation 15 years after the original basically created a new Hallyu bubble. The drama that launched Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon to superstardom also created the idol/teen K-drama genre when before it was all adult melos and romances. It’s adapted from a manhwa that’s much too long and messy, basically the construct is great about a modern Korea with a royal family and the ordinary girl who marries the crown prince but the execution was too protracted. I’m against the need to remake it now, maybe in another 10 years because honestly the original is still really watchable. It’s only a little bit dated in the hairstyles and fashion but really captured that young romance with the fantasy royal family twist. Plus this is going to open up the new leads to tons of comparisons especially if they don’t stack up to the original.

“Kiss scene master” actress Yoon Eun-hye talked about her kiss scenes with Joo Ji-hoon and Gong Yoo in the past. Actors Myung Se-bin, Yoon Eun-hye, WJSN Bona, and comedian Heo Kyung-hwan appeared as guests and shared talks on MBC’s entertainment show “Radio Star”, which aired on April 27th. On the broadcast, Yoon Eun-hye mentioned “Princess Hours”, the first drama in which she starred as the female lead. The actress shared, “I had not been able to have a proper school life since middle school, so I felt so satisfied and happy to be able to wear school uniforms. I also experienced acting wedding scenes, skinship, and everything”. In particular, she also talked about the “Myeongdong Street Kiss Scene” she performed with Joo Ji-hoon which is still considered a legendary kiss scene 16 years later. Yoon Eun-hye said, “At that time, the director took us to the middle of Myeongdong street. We were dragged there without knowing how to film the scene”. She continued to tell some behind stories about the scene, saying, “Only one director was there with us but quite far away, and the cameras were installed somewhere at the corners of the street. We didn’t even know where we were standing, then the director said, Stand right there! Take off the hat! Kiss!’, so we just did it. However, people started to gather around us for real. They took pictures while being so surprised, What are they doing?’. It was so chaotic”. When Yoon Se-yoon asked, “You are called Kiss scene master’ by the viewers, so which scene do you think is the legendary one?”, Yoon Eun-hye replied, “Many scenes in Coffee Prince’ were much more intense than I had expected. At that time, I was so focused on the filming that I didn’t know it would turn out to be that intense”. Yoon Eun-hye previously appeared in MBC’s drama “Coffee Prince” in 2007 and formed a love line with actor Gong Yoo. Regarding playing the leading role of Go Eun-chan in the drama, Yoon Eun-hye confessed, “Eun-chan has never been in a relationship before. But she suddenly sneaks into a man’s house and says I’m not going home tonight’. She rides on the man’s body and then takes off her clothes. The rating of that scene was much higher than I thought”. Yoon Eun-hye made her debut in the entertainment industry as a member of the girl group Baby Vox in 1999. She has starred in many famous dramas, such as MBC’s “Princess Hours”, “Coffee Prince”, and KBS’s “The Vinyard Man”.
